Steinway Lyngdorf IC-26 - In-Ceiling Speaker

Steinway Lyngdorf IC-26 - In-Ceiling Speaker

The In-Ceiling series speakers are specifically designed to be placed behind acoustically transparent screens, fabric panels, and metal mesh grills. With invisible presence, the In-Ceiling series offers exceptional performance, versatility, and unbeatable appeal. This series can be mixed-and-matched with any other item in their product range while maintaining the outstanding performance of each individual component.

The in-ceiling speakers

The IC-26 in-ceiling speaker is the perfect choice for immersive sound formats, as its angled design allows for optimum coverage of the entire listening area. It is designed for perfect performance when placed inside a wall or ceiling.

Steinway Lyngdorf combines the elegance of its unique industrial designs, with its history of producing some of the best musical components in the world.

Steinway Lyngdorf's latest product, the new IC-26 in-ceiling loudspeaker draws from those elements to deliver an immersive listening experience that blends into most residential environments.

Designed as an in-ceiling and in-wall height speaker, the IC-26 can be used as part of an immersive or object-based surround sound system.

Steinway Lyngdorf explains that electronics professionals can place the speaker inside a wall or ceiling, and they can also locate it in “free air,” or they can partially integrate the speaker within a wall or ceiling to leave its baffle protruding.

The company points out that for in-ceiling installations there is a companion back box available, as well as other install-friendly amenities such as a magnetic grill with a choice of white or black cloth options.

Dealers can also utilize customized acoustically transparent cloth solutions, and for semi installed, protruding installations it will make up customized back boxes.

Internally the speaker features a pair of 6.5-inch woofers that flank an air motion tweeter (AMT). The company says the speaker is capable through its driver array and 91dB efficiency to deliver high SPLs (sound pressure levels), and the design of the speaker directs sound down towards the seating area.

Elaborating on the engineering concept behind the IC-26, Steinway Lyngdorf notes that like its other speakers, time domain was a point of emphasis, and it says that “a slow driver can never be made fast by adding equalization (EQ). A driver simply needs to be as fast as possble for the frequency reange it is working within.”

Steinway Lyngdorf specifies the IC-26 to reproduce a frequency response of 70Hz to 20kHz, and it says the speaker is capable of producing SPLs as high as 116dB.
